Costs
Work is carried out within the firm both
on a private basis and where clients qualify, on Legal Aid.
In every initial interview we are happy to discuss
eligibility for Legal Aid and our current charging rate for private
work.
All our charges are calculated by reference
to the time spent dealing with the matter. In some cases it is
not possible to give an accurate estimate of total costs at the
outset, but wherever possible we will, on request, provide written
estimates of costs. It is our duty to ensure that you are informed
if your legal costs are out of proportion to the value of any
money or property involved in any dispute.
If you are likely to qualify for Legal Aid you
will receive further information from us, in writing, when you
make the appropriate applications. If your matter involves a dispute
with another party you will also receive further information from
us about your potential liability for their costs.
Please note that we are subject to money laundering
regulations under which suspicious money transactions must be
disclosed by ourselves to the National Criminal Intelligence Service.
Notification to a client of such a disclosure is not permitted,
and we shall not discuss money laundering with you under any circumstances.
Note that at the outset of any matter, you should
personally visit this office with proof of your identity, preferably
your original valid passport, or original valid UK photo card
driving licence and two original utility bills.
Please be aware that we cannot accept cash payments
exceeding £500. Note that our client account details must
not be given to parties outside the solicitor/client relationship. |
